North Dakota Day 1 and Day 2

First day, we spent all the day in a 15 passenger van.
Second day, we only prepare things, such as we went to Wal-mart for
foods, pray and get some tools ready for the school.
We brought 363 dollars food. Thanks for the campus ministry taxes free
sponsor.
I was impressed how Abbey Novak got everything ready by her own,
especially meals for all of us and for all the kids who are invited to
come.
In Wal-mart, I felt funny of holding 30 pounds of grounded beef. I
felt I am getting ready a ground beef bath.

Charlie hold all these stuffs all the way to North Dakota for 16 hours

Second Night we ran out of corn flake and have no bread crunch, I invented the Captain Crunch breaded Chicken

Charlie and I were so excited about it. ACtually, it tasted very good.

Self-Reflection of MBA

After I graduated in Bachelor of Business Administration, I went back
Hong Kong and did three months part-time job as a logistic assistant.
I did not satisfy with a position of assistant. I would like to make
decision judgements and be hold accountability of my action. Here is
what they say in America: undergrad only study about theory; a master
program study about implementation. Then, I quickly used my connection
connect with my old school; they granted me an assistantship soon I've
contacted with them.

Then the financial crisis expose, school cancelled the assistantship.
I still went back to America pursue the MBA program by hoping soon I
could find a part-time job to cover my tuition fee. Not soon, I was
informed that even I am a master student I am still not allow to work
off campus. I began to try to find an internship instead of some part-
time work.

It was difficult because every company has cut their budget. I tried
many job search engines, but there is no internship available. Then, I
tried to use some old fashion way, mailing resume out, to companies
which I am interest. My respond is only 1 out of 20, and the only
respond was I made a following up call. It was not cost efficiency,
soon after few more attempts I drop this idea. After all, I decided
that it wasn't that bad to rely on connection to get a job. I went to
the student career center and asked the person to help. I read a
statement somewhere, and it said 90% of your first impression of
someone probably is right in the end. My guessing is correct, that
person was not capable of her job, because she can't even answer me
the result of a survey she asked those just grad student to do few
months ago.

I tried to approach the professors in the school. They gave me a list
of old students and some chamber of commerce persons that I can
contact with, but the result is even more dreadful than mailing resume
out. The closest one was my international business professor at that
time. She was working in a logistic field and I had a match resume
with her, then I talked with her and gave her my resume. Her comment
to my resume and cover letter was impressive, so I knew isn't my
resume or cover wrong. But, the trail went silence again in the end.

The last couple things I tried are Linked In, career fair and company
website. My furious among these are career fair. I went to one in a
hotel. Firstly, the career fair cannot find the list of companies
attending to. Secondly, only around 10 companies is participating on
the day. Thirdly, 60% of them are female dedicated institution. I felt
wasted my time and gas money. Another I went was in a big university
career fair. Couple things I remember, half of them are government
organization they reject international student. That I can understand.
Then, 50% of them are there just because they want to get their name
out. Here is one of the conversation I with the personnel that day.

Hi. My name is Vincent. How are you doing? (Then he introduced his
name to me). Then I asked: are you here look for potential candidate
for your company. He respond yes. Then I asked is your company hiring
people right now? He said no. And then I said: anyway, I am very
interested of your company. Can you tell me what kind of person is
your company look for. He said pretty much person with leadership.
Then I asked: is there any place I can show my leadership in your
company application form? He said: Just on the form. (Because there is
no such place) I asked is there any person I can try to contact he
said no.

So, how is the program? Some is good, some is bad. Project management
I did very bad in the class, but I think the class is very good, it
learn something isn't very ordinary. Account Information Management is
bad too, but is also something I think it is worthy to take it. Most
class I rate bad is that I have the expectation in the class. It
should be 75% about implementation and difficult problem solving.
There is no basic information need to cover about in class, because
the textbook have already covered them very detail. Sometime I feel
the professor give some shitting homework, example and class lecturer
is okay, as look as the professor demonstrate critical think and
opinion. However, some professor not, then I will just feel I am out
knowledge of professor.

It is okay to pressure the MBA program. Actually, when I was in
undergrad I already looking to get a master program. Now is almost
finish, I am very grad, the only different is is not in Germany. My
current GPA is 3.76. I guess it will stay above 3.6 by my graduation
day. Hopefully, my hardworking will pay off in long-term. I also
grateful to my Dad. If is not his financial supporting I will never
able to do it.

In the end, do I get what I want from beginning? It is no. Because
having an MBA is not something will right bring you to a manager
position and an instance rase of salary. My latest comment of business
is a word "figurlism", they just talk about number all the time and
tell you what is right and wrong by that. My comments is if later or
soon I will take the MBA course, I would rather to take it now and
realize that something I might need as much. I am not finishing the
course in May, but in December; I will still go finish the course
because no need to wasted all the money for nothing (the
certification.)

My Half Marathon Training Review

My race is on the 17 th of April. Location in Lawrence, KS.

My best recent speed record:

Track Mill Speed: 7 ( 8:40 mins. per mile)
Duration: 46 mins
Distance: 5.4 miles.

My best recent distance record:
Track Mill Speed: 6.5 ( 9.13 mins. per mile)
Duration: 84 mins
Distance: 8.6 miles

My recent toughest run:
Tack Mill Speed: 6 ( 10 mins. per mile) and 5.5 ( 40 mins later)
Duration: 84 mins
Distance: 7.3 miles

Training have been getting more difficult and difficult.
Personal events are getting more and more, training time is getting
less.
Temperature is rising. (I miss running out when is 0 degree in celsius)
Humid rate is getting higher by the increase of Spring rains.

I can foresee the week before race day my best distance record will
only be 11 miles.
I guess I have to go with undertrained.

P.S. I will be gone for a week, so posts will under after I got back
because I will have no internet access.

My weakness

I read an article today. It is Reaching Your Potential. I am not
because feeling that I am a loser so I read this article. It just
because I made myself to read article every week, if not I will never
read them. I read this article by random choice from my database (my
computer).

The first question: it asked me to do is to list three of my strength
and three of my weakness. What happen is that I come up so many things
I can pick for my weakness, but none I can think of for my strength.
First weakness is I am not a talkative person. There is two cases will
make me very talkative. Firstly: When I depress and frustrated in the
same time, then I will know what I don't like and than every thing
else look so wonderful; afterward I will complaint and complaint; in
the end I will tell what I want in the moment. Secondly: when I have
the data (information). I am a very informative guy. If I want to say
something, I try to ensure what I speak is correct. Most of the stuff
I read is research paper, even not in school life. I love them,
because they are interesting and I enjoy not to spend time to do the
research to know the result. They are long, but I think most of them
did a good job analyzing the problem and were well detailed the
background information. I kind of jealous woman can always find things
to talk. They can talk from morning to evening. I just don't
understand. I wonder how they manage their flow of emotion daily. I
guess they never, that is why woman emotion so chaos. I have problem
to think a solution can help me to resolve this weakness.

My second weakness: Lack of leadership. I just don't like speak up, I
also hate being demanding, plus I am always nervous and worrisome. For
example, I am going to run a half marathon in April, and these are my
list of worry: what happen if I want to pee in the middle of the run,
in the moment my best mile is 7.2 and I only have 4 weeks how will I
finish on the race day, where to park, how to get to the registration
table, what happen if I can't run anymore in the middle of the race
how will I get back to my car, what is the water supply of that day,
will the day very windy, humid, rainy, and so on. Most of the time
because of my worrisome and nervous characteristic, I has almost never
shown leadership. I am making myself try new things lately, so I guess
this point might get better in the future.

My third weakness: Lack of affection. Here is what happen. When people
very excited a thing and come to me and tell me why that is so
exciting, 90% what will happen is that I will respond "Oh! All
right!" plus a very bold face. As I mention above, I will think a lot
of thing. When I finish analysis the thing which people come to tell
me I already not excited, because the brain power I needed to use to
analyze the thing normally is greater than the excitement. I need a
girlfriend so I just need to know if she is excited so I can excited,
then I don't need to think about a thing.

These just get through the first paragraph of the paper. It is getting
to long here, I will continue tomorrow.

Lent Review

I was asked how I was doing my Lent by a friend, Betsy, other day. She remembered that I have committed to do many things this year.
So here is the review:

1. Daily Bible Study:

I have been doing bible study every day even when I was in Hong Kong, except a night I was a slacker. I am so happy that I have finished the seven books of wisdom in bible. My favorite books of wisdom is Job. I felt myself share the same pain with Job. And lately, I felt myself in the same story in Eccleesiastes. Yes, I mean I am the bride. Others are very good too; my least favorite one is Psalm too long too boring. (I am not a very literature guy)

Currently, I am in among James, Peter 1 and 2, John 1, 2, & 3 and Jude. I think I am going Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Baruch, Ezekiel, daniel, Hosea and Joel next. Afterward, I will go back to read all the Saint. Paul letter in new testament. Then, I will officially finish reading new testament. (Yes!!!) Very unfortunately, when I converted to Catholic I have thrown away my Protestant version Bible, I forgot where was I in the old testament. I guess I have to read from Genesis again. Of course, I know I will love it very much, because Leviticus is my most memorable books from the old testament and I will have changes to go through it again.

2. Daily morning and evening pray:

I missed two morning pray. Those two morning pray was because after I came back from Hong Kong I was unexpected slept until 1 in the afternoon. Otherwise, I have been doing those every day. The funny thing is when I travel to Hong Kong after finished my Wed. evening pray I did the Thrus. morning pray right away, because Hong Kong is 12 hours faster than in America.

3. Adoration every week

The only time I didn't do is when I was in Hong Kong. They only had it once a month and was not that week. I joined adoration in Abby with the monks every Saturday night at 8 o'clock. I love it, and they do night prayer at the same time too.

4. No food between meals

I have been doing great, even when I was in Hong Kong. The only thing I remember was when I travel to Hong Kong I wasted an entire meal instead of finished it.
My best friend (Renee) and I agreed that we will go to cheesecake factory after Easter. Can't wait

5. No movies

This is the tough one. When I travel to and return from Hong Kong, those 60 hours of flight time I watched people watching movies which I would have love to seen very much. I also miss doing it when I wash dishes.

6. No chocolate

The first morning of Lent the very time I woke up I forgot it Lent, I took one piece of chocolate from my freezer and had it. Otherwise, I have been doing great. There is a story behind too. Originally, when I said I will give up chocolate I only mean chocolate candy. Later, I had half chocolate cake and a cup of chocolate drink, then I felt weird. It is weird in the sense that I can't eat chocolate candy but I can eat or drink other chocolate related products. Now I just give up everything is related to chocolate. I am planning to make a chocolate party right after Easter break. I will share my big bag of chocolate, make some chocolate cookies, buy a chocolate cake and bring all of my coco drink and mocha coffee to celebrate. I just pop up an idea, what about Asian chocolate hot pot. Haha... It sounds so good.

7. Tidy.

I have been doing great, except the week after I came back from Hong Kong. I slept until one everyday; all of my classwork is so behind...

8. Love other more than myself

I will give myself half half on this one. The reason is I forgot about it most of the time. And, honestly, it is hard. Do not mix up between being nice to people and love someone. When you see a stranger you said hi and smile, it is not love someone this is just being nice to people. You can being nice to someone you hate, but is hard to love someone you hate. The good point is I invited a student in my school who has listening disability and do sign language in mass every Sunday to join my friend at my place for supper once, but she was busy. Then I was confuse why I invited her, is it because I feel sorry for her so I want to make her a supper or because I think she is pretty, or both in the same time. I think I will reserve this idea, because I think I just try to nice to her but not try to "love" her. Of course, this is not only reason I give myself half half. Actually, I spend time to know my friends life, I do researches to know what they studying and doing. I found this help understand the person a lot, and give you topic to chat with.

9. Smile

I forgot this one most of the time also. But, even I remember it might hard for me from all the stress at school work.

10. Be affirmative

I forgot this one as well. I guess I am genetic heritage the negative opinion from my parents. Plus, I am so business and super data, figures number guy. I just can't let myself forget all the information, figures proof which I have read on the news and try to agree with someone even when I know it is wrong.

Sister Wedding Day

Middle is my sister, and her sisters and brothers.

Our wedding is little bit different than the western one; the bride not only have sisters but brothers too, for "bodyguard".

The groom finally past all tests from my sister's "bodyguard" and got my sister.

The left two: is my mum elder sister's daughters.

The two by me: is my mum fifth sister's son and daughters.

A comedy joke

I got my my "Mum" , Liza, a friend of mine, e-mail which said:

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria

New look

I am so please with the new look of my blog. It took me 2 hours to find and make right of everything. The most important things I looks for is bright and simple. For me, some dark blog sites can seems very classy and elegant, but I found it too dark which make people feel sleepy and eventually left the website. I am very conscious about that. Some people might say, bright might hurt people eyes. Well, I guess my excuse is pick white background so reader could easier to read through words. When I mean simple, I mean two column. The left must be the blog, the right must be links. I always believe a saying 'less is more'.

Swine Flu

The first night I came back from Hong Kong I went to bed at mid-night.
I was expecting I would wake up on the next day 9, 10 o'clock on the
morning. When I woke up on the next day, it was already 1:30 pm. The
same night, I went to bed at 8:00, because I felt tired. Instead of
waking up on morning or midnight, I woke up at 10 pm on the same
night. I experienced an unusual headache and soar throat. It looks
like to me is a fever symptome. Then, I realize that I just came back
from Hong Kong; actually, I began feel ill is when I was on the plant.
I worry it isn't a fever, it is swine flue. So, I told myself I will
go to doctor the next day. The next day, I woke up at 1 again. The
school doctor has already closed. In the afternoon, I felt much
better. I realized I felt ill probably because I didn't sleep enough
when I was in Hong Kong, that is why I sick finally. I feel funny
about that,

Sevens Wonders of the World

I read this from the Rat Race Trap, which exactly from the ETP Newsletter.

A group of students was asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there are so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are:

1. To see
2. To hear
3. To touch
4. To taste
5. To feel
6. To laugh
7. And to love."

Happy Ten Challenge

I found this on my friend Ciska blog. You receive it and write ten things make you very happy. I do not receive it, because when she got it I haven't start a blog yet, but I quite sure that she would have sent me this challenge. Then you past the challenge to 10 other friends. Of course, I don't have much friend write blog. So whoever see this and have a blog you are the "lucky" chosen one.

New knowledge When you don't know something is not the worst; the worst is when you don't even know something that is exist.

New concept What I mean here is not an idea, but a new way of thinking bring you exit the traditional conventional belief trap. It kind of feel like it entertains your brain, a freedom to do things way creative.

Play spot I love spot. I always try to careful with my manner in front of people. However, when I play spot I feel I am so okay to yield. Of course, it also feel good after exercising.

Eating I love eating. I can't resist yummy food. Its like the time you release your stress, eating like a starving person. A long fatty meal you look for a month. Then, you feel you ate too much you can't move an inch after you show your satisfying face.

Cooking Cooking is not something every people will enjoy, but when I cook I find peace. It is the time I have to so focus on cooking and cannot think something else, not like studying which give you stress. I cook different foods; I always try something new, then I will have friends come over and enjoy it together.

Dancing I love dancing I can dance well even my partner is not good. I am so good at swing dancing. I love flip girl, and do some difficult move. When I get bored, I find fun by making girl swing more until they feel dizzy.

Hot girls bear hugs. Generally, I like hug, bear bug even better. But, there is nothing better than a hot girls' bear hug. It makes me fly and make me feel I possess something everyone want.

1 on 1 online strategy game I grew up with playing computer game. You know nothing about your enemy move and strategy. You are competing time; you feel the stagnation of every sec; its like a race. In the end, there is nothing but has to extinguish every single enemy unit. And, you can start over not like the real world.

Smell good I don't think it is girl privilege to enjoy smell good. I believe man also enjoy themselves of being smell good.

Dress nice When crapy day happen, it make me feel happier.

Writing Style

Lately, I am reading a old old friend online Diary. I found myself
very enjoy her diary; her diary are well written and it well expresses
my friend's feeling and thought, which help reader easy to understand
and be in her position. I am shame of myself, because my friend and I
are both non-English speaker but her English grammar and comprehension
are much better than mine; additionally, she does not study in a
English speaking country.

Go back to the main topic. After I feel shame of myself, I told myself
if she can do it why not me do it too. So, I do now. I am sure that
reader find my blog is more attractive to read. This require an extra
effort to do it. (At least for me). But, I understand one thing. Man
and woman are different even in writing style. For woman, they always
ask why and they will make a list of positive and negative, just as
they do in relationship. For instance, if you ask a woman what she
think her relationship with her boyfriend in the future, they will
make a list of why they will be happy and unhappy in the future three
years. But man don't. For man, when they have an idea they consult
their intuition.

I found by putting myself as a woman to write a letter is more
colorful, reader are easy to enjoy it and I understand myself better.
But, I found as a man perspective this 'extra effort' took too much
time and feel unnecessary. However, this diary is open for everyone,
and I believe I will continue to do it.

A Random Busy Day

Wednesday, I will travel to Hong Kong for my sister wedding on
Sunday. So, I have to get all thing done before I leave. Tomorrow
afternoon, I have an appointment with a non-profit organization
manager; this is for a class Human Resource Management. Our primary
goal is to help them solves their volunteers retention problem, but we
will also give them feedback and some improvement idea. I also have an
exam of my Business Ethic and Corporate Social Responsibility class
tomorrow night. In this moment, late evening, I am doing my Lent
obligation bible study. Then, I have to go through the non-profit
organization website to get as much as information and background
about them. I feel tired already.

I will leave my apartment on Wednesday, so I have to get things done
before I leave. On last Saturday, I went to the River Market in
Kansas City before I hit the BC Kansas City campus. I bought some
veggie, and I planned to put them in the fridge. I did get some of
them in the freezer on Sunday, so I needed to finish the rest. It
took me a while. And, the day before we had a huge snow, so this
afternoon I spent sometime to clear the drive way, even though I
didn't need my car but would be nice to know I can get my car out for
my friend to drive me to the airport.

It is a LIE! Why?

I was talking on the phone with Chelsea Criddle.
Well, I kind of got upset being in America by myself all the time.
I asked her what she think about, not in a romantic way.
She said I better balance time than her, .... (I don't remember) and
good-looking.
Then, I said it was a lie.
She disagree.
I explained: the reason why I know it is a lie, cos there is no one in
my life told me about that.
Why would suddenly someone told me I am good looking.
I said: I will not believe it.

Adoration

I had a tough day, a day of thinking.
Lately, I was so interested about IMD university in Switzerland .
I was sad about where was I and what was I doing in my life for that
moment.
I could see the future I wished to have.

I hoped for to speak better English and better parents.
I examined how was I doing in the past few weeks and how I would be
doing probably the coming weeks.
I found out I am very selfish, I was a very good Catholic.
And one thing, I felt I was doomed.
Not the sense of bad things has happened to me, but a person lack of
love.
I love myself more than anyone. I seldom to do things for people.
I love someone because for my own happiness.

A thought came across me.
Next town has a prison; might be I should see if there is prisoner
speak cantonese.

The things was long. 30 minutes pre. 1 hrs adoration, 30 minutes
cleaning.

Valentine Day

It was cold.
In the afternoon, I cleaned my house.
I had a vacuum to clean the living room, finally.
I washed the floor; it don't sticky anymore.
I wipe the wall, so it is more healthier to breath.
Everything is organized. It is great
The living space looked more pleasant suddenly.

I went to pick up Laura Downey.
She looked very nice. Might be it is my first official friend date.
We cook steak together.
It is not the best, but it's not bad.
We talked a lot broken bones and leg while we were eating.
We moved the topic to Lent.
She said she is going to do: Daily spiritual exam.
For me, I think I am giving up movie and do adoration each week.
I told her that I was sorry for didn't drive her to her home last
Sunday.
She said, actually her parents drove the car down for her on Wednesday.
I was happy for her; but it was kind of sad, because I would not have
chance to drive for her anymore.

We had a good time together.

Rachel Ruhl

I met Rachel in the Student Union, since I have forgotten to bring my
lunch to school today.
We were talking about the conventional wisdom that the process of
evaluation oneself is always not accurate
I was advocating if there is no friend to ask the only thing you can
do is evaluation your parents.
(It's funny that we think you are mostly influence by either Dad and
parent but never by both).
For example, I say my Dad is smart, social, but boring.
Then, I am likely also smart, social and boring.
(It is scary to able to predict my future son and daughter will have
the same pro and con of us).
Rachel think she like her mum, which is very social and like to give
advises.
Of course, she try to deny that she don't think she give people advise.

Nurse Assistant

When I went to Walmart had a tire changed I came across Janet, the
nurse assistant from School.
She said hi to me and gave me a side hug.
I wonder that am I that cute for a mid-age lady or I just very funny.
Anyway, I told her I will find an excuse to go to the nursing place to
get check out.
My leg is bothering me after kneeing to change the tire.

Car Fixing

Today was somewhere freezing and rainy.
One of my tires got flattened.
I changed the tire by myself.
A very nice towny did came and checked me up.
I was so proud of myself.
And, thanks God so much that I had an deflated tire
He always had a plan.
I just inflated the tire a week ago.
I thought it will be nice to prepare my donut.

Ramen Noodle

Yesterday night I made myself a ramen noodle as appetizer for the
movie Hamlet.
When I open the box of ramen noodle, it missed out 3 packs.
I was so mad.

Marathon

It is the first time to register half marathon in my life.
It is funny that I woke up this morning I felt back pain.
People ask me why, I told them: "I don't know, I think that I am
getting old".
The same day afternoon, I registered for half marathon, the huge
ambition.
I think the important part is I have never able to run 12 mile yet.
Today is February, and I will have 2 months to put myself in shape.

Faith and frustration

It seems frustration and faith are contradiction term. Normally, when I frustrated something is because I have a difficulty a problem that I don't know how to solve. Then, I run to God and ask Him for help and answer. The question remains is that how I remain faithful in the future when I don't even know the presence.

Faith is the certainty of the future, the unknown, the unforeseeable. If there is no doubt, faith do not grow. Now, more I think about it, the more I recognize the presence of God in my life time. A friend of mine talked with me on the phone one day " Vincent, even though your English is very shitty, I have no idea how you can do so great in the MBA program" Because, 70% of time I feel really shitty and defeated.

What's next? In the meantime we got frustrated, what do we do?

Last class for the year!

The presence of God

Mn... When I was in communion liberation meeting yesterday, I thought if there is a girl in front of me who I would really love to date with, and I will never able to date her, then what the meaning of recognizing the presence of Christ. If the girl don't go out with me because she don't like my personality, then what those emotion mean to our life. For example I am a very grumpy person, I don't ask God to make me become a grumpy personal everyone hated. So, should I think my life is really sucks or I should think that oh I recognize the presence of Christ, so everything is under God plan and she is not mean to be with me. By recognize the presence of Christ, it might make me feel better, but it does not make me less grumpy or earn me a girlfriend. Mn... I don't get the catholic teaching yet.

I.T. Appointment

I am so mad that when I arrive St. Joseph, Professor Chris said it is a phone appointment. He never mentioned about it was a phone appointment until the same day morning 10 o'clock through e-mail. (Hobo don't have internet access) The reason it only mentioned at 10 o'clock, is because he decided not to go to work. When I at the front door of his office, he has to tell me that he is not even in the office.

Swing Dance

I am so cool. I have flip a American for Coat Hanger.

"America" ?

Lately, I am thinking what my America experience mean to me in the future. Beside my education degree, where will those people and things I met and saw be in my life. I began to conclude that Americans are very bad of making connection and keeping in touch of people. I become very sad about it, and confuse my future. I start to think I should finish my degree asap and go home. This week, my life become miserable and desperate.

Perceptive from my friend of what law mean to us

Joey Orrino: People come to lawyers when they're in a crisis. Lawyers can minister to spouses seeking divorce, counsel teens in legal trouble, advise conflicted businessmen to do what's right. The law addresses issues of the whole person. It is not a set of procedures or an argumentative technique. It is God's means of confronting wrong, establishing justice, defending the weak, and promoting the public good (Total Truth)
